David and Rose Marie Chapman
As many of you know the Huntsman Senior Games has sponsored Square Dancing for 25 years. What you may not know is that David and Rose Marie Chapman have been the Square Dance Directors the last 19 years. Their efforts are not just the second week of October but it is the whole year.
Every year that includes advertising by going to multiple dances and conventions, arranging callers and cuers, set up the event hall, and handling complaints from dancers (and you all know what
that’s like).
They also need to work very close with the Huntsman Senior Games Organization. You probably know the Huntsman Senior Games have brought dancers from many states to Utah, not to mention Japan and Canada. The 2024 Huntsman Senior Games even had one
caller from Canada; all of this is mainly due to the hard work done by David and Rose Marie.
We, Therefore, feel that they should receive the Distinguish Service Award for 2025 because of all the hard work and effort they put into promoting square dancing in Utah.
